blogged out

following a tiring, but uneventful, twenty six hour journey, i'm back in mataram. the ferry from flores to sumbawa was dull but safe, although the genius in charge of the tv thought it would be clever to put on a film about sharks eating humans... a little sadistic maybe? although virgin did the same on my flight to delhi, proudly trailing lost (which is about a plane crash) as the highlight of their onboard entertainment. jokers.
got to spend a couple of hours on sumbawa, a rugged, desolate, and frankly uninspiring island. i did however go for dinner at the house of a man who i'd met on the bus from sape to bima. he said his wife cooked a mean mie goreng, so for 50 cents i went into the middle of a shanty town and tucked in... tasty, if not a little unusual.
i arrived this morning and am slowly enjoying the joys of being back... namely running water and electricity. there was no internet on flores, so the previous three posts were written here, then backdated to the time i would have liked to have written them.
off to senaru tomorrow, although dark clouds ahead suggest that the ascent up rinjani may not be possible.
