aaah south east asia. it really does not disappoint; if anything, making the move from shoestringing backpacker to midrange flashpacker opened up some additional avenues which i hadn't even considered before. all in all an excellent, well paced holiday, combining the rural charm and tinge of being off the beaten track in sumatra with colonial charm and tropical paradise in malaysia and luxury, bangkok bright lights and ping pong balls in thailand. the orangutangs were probably the highlight of the trip but we pitched the ambience right throughout. next stop, extravagant honeymoons: private infinity pools here we come...
